Welmede supported David through his move
David’s support plan for his personal budget starts like this:
"I have been living at Coombe Oak for over 10 years and I would really like to move now. I am pretty happy with the rest of my life though".
David was very clear about what he wanted to change in his life so planning with David was about thinking how we could support David to do it. This change in David’s life was also about the trying new things and meeting new people.
Welmede acted as a broker for David, there were a few challenges:
What else would David like to change – he was ‘pretty happy’ with the rest of his life so what would help him to be that little bit happier.
David knew that he wanted to move but to where and what type of house - we had to explore with David what made him feel more comfortable.
Working with different providers, David wanted to keep support from some of the people in his life but also chose to buy some new support. All the support providers had to work in partnership and listen to what David was saying that he wanted.
Choosing new support and somewhere new to live were things that David hadn’t done before, in a brokerage role Welmede were able to support David to do that.
