Supported Living

"I have been looking for a Supported Living home for ages. This year, I started looking for my own home with Kingston Council. After joining the waiting list I was given a PIN number and password so that I could look on the internet and bid for places that I liked and were right for me.

Every Wednesday I get up early and either Carrie or Julie take me to the office to look on the housing website. If there is a property that is right for me, we place a bid.

Lots of people can bid on the same place so there is lots of waiting to hear. If I’ve not been lucky I keep looking and bid again. I have been looking for furniture for my new home with my Keyworker and saving up. I need to buy furniture for me and the member of staff that will be staying with me (as I’ll still need 24 hour support).

I would like to live somewhere that is easy for me to get to college as taxis can cost quite a lot. I would love a garden if I can get one. I want to be near shops and near to my friends so they can come over for coffee."
