With the right support Phillip soon felt at home
Phillip had been living at Elm House, a foyer scheme for young adults but as his confidence increased he started to feel that it was time to move on. Phillip spoke to the people supporting him about where he would like to live and the type of house he wanted.
Phillip made an application to the local council and then each week he was supported to check the website for suitable properties. Shortly afterwards however a property thorough Welmede became available which Phillip went to see along with a friend who was also looking to move.
They both liked the house and decided that they would like to move in. Before moving they chose paint and carpet colours along with all the furniture. On the day of the ‘big move’ Phillip was very nervous but excited about his next step. It took a while for Phillip to settle but with the right support he soon felt at home. Since moving Phillip has got the cat that he has always wanted and has said that he couldn’t be happier.
