Supported Living 'Supported Living is about choice - real choice the kind of choice many of us take for granted' Supported Living is a decidedly simple concept which breaks the mould and for the first time gives disabled people real options. Because choice is an important aspect of supported living, every person’s supported living arrangement is likely to be different in some way from the next. The essence of supported living is choosing where you live, who you live with and the supports you receive. The key underlying assumption is that everyone should have the right to these choices in the same way as the rest of the population. Supported Living is based around principles that emphasise: · Full user choice and control · Focusing on one person at a time · Separate housing and support · Developing relationships with professionals and voluntary organisations · Making use of informal supports and community resources
Welmede supported living teams currently provide over 1,200 hours of individual support a week For more details email supported.living@welmede.org.uk
